Knowledge management: A challenge for university students in times of pandemic

Abstract

In this research, a study was carried out on teachers and students of different careers of the State Technical University of Quevedo from the analysis of the reflections on knowledge management and virtual university teaching during the confinement stage caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The study, of a descriptive, exploratory and explanatory nature, applied surveys to students and teachers of different careers of the State Technical University of Quevedo. The survey had responses from 35 students and 8 teachers. The majority of students value the move to virtuality negatively as this is associated on a recurring basis with an increase in teaching load. The virtuality has contributed to a negative impact on the students' vision of their trainers, while in the latter they demand basic digital skills in young university students. According to the findings obtained, teachers in the virtual scenario must show knowledge not only about the content of the subject but also technological and digital pedagogical knowledge. The teacher has to be able to innovate, reflect and transform their didactic proposals to respond to the social demands that the world is experiencing in the midst of a health crisis, while achieving the curricular objectives proposed at the beginning of the course. On the other hand, the teachers surveyed recognize that it is necessary to promote critical and reflective thinking linked to the strategic management of ICT.
