Gamification with Educaplay: transforming math learning in fifth grade
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present study focuses on analyzing the influence of Educaplay on the development of logical-mathematical skills in fifth-grade students of General Basic Education at Unidad Educativa Fray Bartolomé de las Casas, located in the parish of Salasaka, considering the importance of mathematical reasoning in academic learning. The objective was to design and implement interactive activities in Educaplay to enhance numerical skills and problem-solving abilities. A pre-experimental pretest–posttest design with a mixed approach (quantitative and qualitative) was applied. A set of tests validated by experts and activities (Froggy Jumps, test, video quiz, memory) were administered to 28 students under controlled conditions, along with classroom observations and teacher perspectives. The results revealed a statistically significant improvement: the mean score increased from 3.61 in the pretest to 8.18 in the posttest (t (28) = 39.686; p = 0.000), evidencing notable progress in the understanding of basic operations and problem-solving through logic. Educaplay fostered greater motivation and student participation, which directly contributed to the consolidation of learning. It was concluded that the implementation of Educaplay has proven to be an effective pedagogical strategy that strengthens the development of logical-mathematical competencies, becoming an innovative resource that enhances teaching, promotes independent learning, and generates new opportunities to raise educational quality.
